STI and STI Testing

STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections)

A sexually transmitted infection is a disease transmitted mainly by sexual activity. Herpes, gonorrhea and chlamydia, are examples of such STIs. Some STIs can also be spread by the transfer of, or contact with blood - for example in intravenous drug use or blood transfusions. HIV / AIDS and syphilis are examples of such diseases. STI testing at home helps you to check your STI status.

Some STIs are caused by bacteria infecting others by viruses. Syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea are examples of diseases caused by bacteria. Herpes, HIV / AIDS and genital warts transmitted by viruses.

Each of sexually transmitted diseases have their own medical conditions and symptoms. For some, symptoms may be very extensive and painful. For others, the symptoms are very mild.

If you have a sexually transmitted disease

It is not always easy to know that one is carrying a sexually transmitted disease. Some STDs can actually be latent in the body for a long time. If you are sexually active, it is a good idea to periodically get STI testing at home. It is always good to be on the safe side.

If you suffer from symptoms that are typical of some sexually transmitted disease should immediately get a STI testing at home. Some STDs may give rise to very serious complications and sequelae if not treated properly and timely.

Protect yourself against STIs

It is recommended to use condoms in all sexual activities. It is therefore both vaginal, anal and oral sex. Using a condom is unfortunately not a completely safe method to reduce the risk of a sexually transmitted disease, but if there are no mishaps by the condom breaks or slips off, the risk of infection is very low.

Young girls and boys are careless protection during sex and is afraid of getting chlamydia. The fear of getting pregnant or making someone pregnant is much greater. It is much more emotionally involved in a pregnancy than a sexually transmitted disease, many see a sexually transmitted disease as something that is easy to fix.
